One of the greatest features of your new Unnecto phone is the ability to send MMS picture messages and access the internet so that you can enjoy all of your favorite websites and social media channels right from your new phone. To get online however, your phone must know what data network it should be using. Your phone identifies this network using the APN (Access Point Name) settings that are entered on the device. Sometimes your phone will not automatically detect what settings it should be using and you will need to manually enter the settings to access the internet. Not to fear though! Just follow the steps below and you will be online and ready for anything in no time!
The first step is to go to the settings menu on your device. The settings menu will look like this:
Now that you are at the settings menu simply tap the “More” button and a screen like the one shown below will appear. From this screen choose the “Mobile Networks” option.
At the next screen choose “Access Point Names” from the list of options.
Step 2: Add the APN settings
The APN settings shown are read from the T-Mobile SIM card that is already in our Unnecto 5.5″ demo device. To add new APN settings tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner and then tap the highlighted “New APN” option.
After you have selected “New APN” you will see the data fields where you can enter your carriers APN information. Each carrier is different and you should ensure that the information that you enter is accurate as inaccurate information will cause your device to have no connection. The best resources for APN settings are your carriers themselves. This information can usually be found on your carrier’s website or with a simple Google search. You can also contact your carrier’s technical support and they will provide you with the correct APN settings. Scroll to the end of this article for a list of the most common carrier’s APN settings.
Once you have the correct APN settings for your device you can use this to fill in the APN setting data fields. Don’t worry if some of the fields are left blank. This is to be expected and simply means that your carrier doesn’t require those fields for access.
Now that you have entered all the information, you should enter a profile name for the settings so you will know which list is the correct one. Finally tap the three dots in the upper right hand corner again and select “Save”. Your new settings are now saved to the device! Just restart your device to enjoy full web access.
